Founded in 1994 by Thomas Anderson, Cx Associates was a pioneer in the field of building commissioning. When others hadn't even heard of it, Cx Associates was doing it. Cx Associate's Principals, Tom Anderson, CCP and Jennifer Chiodo, PE, LEED AP have over 50 years combined experience in the design, construction and operation of high performance buildings.
Cx Associates provides commissioning and consulting services to customers committed to the sustainable design and construction of their new and renovated facilities. Cx Associates has been involved in more than two dozen LEED™ commissioning projects.
Having completed commissioning for nearly 11 million square feet of space with $580 million in total project costs, Cx Associates has a proven track record.
Cx Associates' Burlington Office has been awarded LEED Certification
by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
LEED is the USGBC's leading rating system for designing
and constructing the world's greenest, most energy efficient,
and high performing buildings.
The office space at 110 Main Street in downtown Burlington,
Vermont was designed by Cx Associates and
the Brick Box Company to achieve LEED Commercial
Interiors certification for energy efficiency,
building commissioning, proximity to public transportation,
lighting, water and material use.
The office's flooring is locally-sourced Vermont maple,
and the cabinetry was salvaged from another construction project.
There is on-site secure bicycle storage to encourage a car-free commute,
and the office has on-site recycling and composting in place.
The office lighting system uses 60% less energy than is allowed by code.
Carpeting is NSF 140 Gold certified,
meeting requirements for public health and environment,
recycled content, and energy efficiency in the production process.
When the carpet wears out, the manufacturer will take
it back and reuse the components.
